Prepaid Phone Plans
Cell phones for the rest of us
Cell phones have been around for a while now and most of us have had a couple from a variety of different companies. That means a cell phone plan that dictates how many minutes you have, and what you are going to have to pay for them. For those who do not want to be tied town to a plan and a contract, there is always a prepaid phone. With a prepaid phone, you can choose how much you want to pay for the phone and how much you want to pay for the minutes you want to use. There are pros and cons to each.
Of course, every phone company you are familiar with has a prepaid plan and a few you have never heard of. Take an example such as AT&T. They have four different plans with 3 of them giving you unlimited text and talk. The cost varies from 2 dollars per day to 75 dollars per month with 200 mg of data per month included. You have a choice of over 100 phones and they start at $9.99. They do not charge you to activate the phone. The cons are that you l have to pay $1.79 per call for directory assistance. AT&T is also a bit higher that most other companies.
Cricket is another example. This company is very popular because they have flat rate plans and you are not tied down to a contract. That is good because if you find another company with a better plan, you can switch without it costing you an arm and a leg as with some of the non-prepaid companies. Cricket phones start at $29.99. All these phones have color screens, as all are capable of text messaging. They have a 55-dollar plan, which includes mobile email and mobile video. They also have a blackberry plan which costs 55 dollars per month and contains everything you expect such as push email. Cricket coverage is excellent for the United States. Some of the drawbacks are that the better phones are expensive. Not all phones are available online. You have to get some from retailers. You do have to spend 15 dollars to get your phone activated.
Having a cell phone is great for all your communication needs. You can talk to mom or get the items on that grocery list you forgot to write down while at home. If you donít want to tie yourself down to a contract and you want the luxury of pay as you go, most phone companies have a pre-paid plan. Keep in that there is some drawbacks to each plan, so you will want to become informed as to what those are.
