Calling Cards

Communication is wonderful these days

If you need to talk to someone, no matter where they are in the world, you can do that with a calling card. Calling cards are as numerous as fishes in the sea. As a prime example, if I want to call Azerbaijan, from the United States, I can do it with a variety of calling cards.

One allows me to call with no connection fee, 69 cents weekly and 3 minute rounding. The cards are 5, 10, and 20 dollars. I can call to a landline or a cell phone. I have can access the numbers in English or Spanish. The card is not rechargeable, and I have to use a pin.

If I want to call the Czech Republic from the United States, I can use a card called Titan. With it, I have no connection fee. It is rechargeable so I do not have to go and buy another card. I do not have to use a pin so forgetting pins is not a problem. There is a 99-cent fee and 3 minute rounding. I can get a card for 2, 5, 10, and 20 dollars. I can call a landline or a cell phone. The weekly fee is first charged at midnight after the first call.

Communication is just not a problem anymore for anywhere in the world if you have access to a phone. A good example of this is calling from Macedonia to Costa Rica. One card, the Verizon Traveler, has no connection fee. There are no fees or taxes. The standard rate is 16.2 cents per minute to a landline. That applies to the 20-dollar card. The payphone fee is 50 cents per call. I can get this card in 10, 20, and 50-dollar denominations. It is not rechargeable and you do have to use a pin. I can call a cell phone but the rates vary. They recommend if your party does not answer within ten seconds to hang up. Some carriers will bill you for a call after 15 seconds regardless if the party answers or not.

You can buy these cards in bulk and receive a discount for doing so. If you need to talk to your brother in South Korea, or a client in American Samoa, you can do it easily in this present day and age with a calling card. You can buy these online or at a local establishment and they vary in cost from 2 to 50 dollars.

Now there’s no excuse not to call grandma at Christmas time.
